Background

Babbinswood Organic Farm is situated in North Shropshire. The 170 acres that has been stewarded successfully by the Jones family for over a century was put up for sale in January 2026 due to financial pressures. The Society is determined to obtain as much of the land as possible to keep it from harmful farming methods practiced by corporate agricultural business or industrial or domestic development.

About the Farm

Babbinswood Organic Farm has been a much-loved and community-orientated family farm. Three generations of the Jones family have stewarded this land since at least the 1890s, having devoted their lives to caring for the soil, plants and animals who live there.

The farm first achieved organic certification in 2002 and has remained so ever since.  It has changed over the years but now boasts permanent organic and holistically managed pasture supporting cows and sheep with the added benefit of areas of woodland.

The farm has been a community magnet for many years and in many forms: as a local employer, as a places for volunteers to gain knowledge and experience and as a welcoming place for visitors far and wide.
