Meet Our Team
We are Community Benefit Society with a Board of Directors who have a strategic role in the organisation. Supporting them is a brilliant team of volunteers, who form a practical and advisory backbone across marketing, tenancy, farm-work, and administration.
The Community Benefit Society is classed as a community-owned organisation, is its co-operative structure, which means that it’s owned and directed by shareholders, with each shareholder receiving one vote, and all shareholders able to put themselves up for election.
Our Board of Directors is made up as follows:
(a) Up to 9 directors elected by and from the Society’s Members;
(b) Up to 1 Director appointed by Fordhall Community Land Initiative (or any body that succeeds its function);
(c) A Person appointed as a Director by the tenant farmer;
(d) A Person appointed as a Director by the owner of Babbinswood Farm;
(e) Up to 3 Directors, who must be Members, appointed to the Board by co-option. Co-opted Directors are to be selected by the Board of Directors for their particular skills and/or experience.
Three seats on the Board have specific representative requirements for the people that fill them. These seats are not elected by the members.
